How to read a rent change

The percentage compares a listing's new advertised weekly rent against its own previous advertised rent, so it tracks one property over time rather than comparing different properties. It is asking rent, not a signed lease, which is why it moves earlier than bond-lodgement data.

Why rent cuts matter to buyers

Advertised rent sets the top of a property's yield. A suburb where asking rents are being cut is repricing before the sale market does, so a rent cut on a property you are considering is worth checking against the yield the sale price implies.

Rent is one half of a yield. PropRadar scores every active listing on yield, valuation gap, and sold comparables in the same suburb.
