MCP server for Australian property data.
Give Claude and other AI assistants direct access to Australian listings, sold prices, valuations, rental yields and suburb statistics. Nine tools, one endpoint. Sign in with OAuth from Claude or ChatGPT, or use the PropRadar API key you already have.

}What the Model Context Protocol gives you
MCP is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external data and tools. Point a client at the PropRadar endpoint and the assistant can answer questions about real Australian properties instead of guessing from training data. No glue code, no scraping, and every answer traces back to the same dataset the REST API serves.
One endpoint
https://propradar.com.au/mcp over Streamable HTTP. Protocol versions 2024-11-05 through 2025-06-18 are negotiated automatically.
Your existing key
Authenticate with X-API-Key or Authorization: Bearer using the same pr_live_ key as the REST API. No separate billing.
OAuth for ChatGPT (experimental)
Clients that only offer OAuth, like ChatGPT's MCP apps, can sign you in to PropRadar instead of taking a key. Same plan, same credits, revocable from your dashboard.
The nine tools
Every tool maps to a documented REST endpoint and consumes the same quota. Tier gates are identical to the REST API, so nothing behaves differently just because it was called through MCP.
| Tool | What it returns | Plan |
|---|---|---|
search_property | Resolve a free-text street address + postcode to PropRadar property IDs, with on-market and sold flags. | Free |
get_property | Full property record: attributes, current listing, valuation and confidence, rental estimate, yield, and last sale. | Free |
suburb_stats | Suburb medians, yields, capital growth, market heat and demographics. | Free |
suburb_listings | Current on-market listings in a suburb, card-level. | Free |
suburb_sold | Recently sold properties in a suburb with sale prices, over a look-back window you choose. | Free |
search_listings | Criteria-based search of current on-market listings across a state, optionally narrowed to suburbs or postcodes. No address needed. | Pro+ |
sold_comparables | Recent sold comparables within a radius of a reference point. Pass a property_id, or your own lat/lng when the subject property is not in the dataset. | Hobby+ (lat/lng: Pro+) |
bulk_property_lookup | Resolve many address + postcode pairs to properties in a single call. | Starter+ |
market_regions | Macro market metrics by region: capital cities, states and national. | Growth+ |
Coordinates are a Pro+ field on listing, sold, comparable and bulk results and return null on lower plans. A single property record (get_property) includes them on every plan.
Connect it
Two ways, same plan and credits. OAuth needs nothing but the URL. An API key suits scripts and clients without OAuth.
Option 1: Sign in with OAuth experimental
Server URL: https://propradar.com.au/mcp
- claude.ai and Claude Desktop: Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the URL and click Connect.
- Claude Code: run
then typeclaude mcp add --transport http propradar https://propradar.com.au/mcp/mcpin Claude Code and choose Authenticate. - ChatGPT: add a new MCP app (connector), paste the URL and choose OAuth.
You sign in to PropRadar and approve the app. That adds a key named after the app to your developer dashboard; revoke it there to disconnect.
Option 2: API key
- 1. Get a key. Create a free account and generate a
pr_live_key on the developer dashboard. The free tier includes 50 credits a month. - 2. Add the server. Use the config shown above with your key, or in Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http propradar https://propradar.com.au/mcp \ --header "X-API-Key: pr_live_your_key_here"
Then ask a question, for example “What did properties sell for near 284 O'Hea Street, 3044 in the last year?” The assistant will call search_property then sold_comparables.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the PropRadar MCP server?
- It is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at https://propradar.com.au/mcp that exposes Australian property data to AI assistants as callable tools. Instead of writing REST calls, an assistant like Claude can look up an address, pull sold comparables, or read suburb statistics directly in conversation.
- Which AI assistants can connect to it?
- Any MCP client that supports the Streamable HTTP transport, including Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code) and ChatGPT through its MCP apps. Both can connect with OAuth, so you only paste the server URL. The server negotiates MCP protocol versions 2024-11-05, 2025-03-26 and 2025-06-18, so older clients keep working.
- How do I authenticate the MCP server?
- Two ways. Clients that let you set a header use the same pr_live_ API key as the REST API, as either an X-API-Key header or an Authorization: Bearer header. Clients that offer OAuth, such as Claude's custom connectors and ChatGPT, can connect with OAuth instead (experimental): you paste the server URL, sign in to PropRadar and approve the app, and it never sees a key. Either way you can revoke access at any time on the developer dashboard. Get a free key at /developers, no credit card required.
- How do I connect PropRadar to Claude?
- With OAuth, no key needed (experimental). In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, and paste https://propradar.com.au/mcp as the URL. Claude sends you to PropRadar to sign in and approve it. In Claude Code, run: claude mcp add --transport http propradar https://propradar.com.au/mcp, then type /mcp inside Claude Code and choose Authenticate. Approving adds an API key named after the app to your developer dashboard: calls are billed to your API plan like any other key, and revoking that key disconnects Claude. If you prefer a key, Claude Desktop and Claude Code also accept the X-API-Key header config shown on this page.
- How do I connect PropRadar to ChatGPT?
- OAuth support is experimental. In ChatGPT, add a new MCP app (connector), paste https://propradar.com.au/mcp as the server URL and choose OAuth as the authentication. ChatGPT registers itself, then sends you to PropRadar to sign in and approve it. Approving adds an API key named after the app to your developer dashboard: calls are billed to your API plan exactly like any other key, and revoking that key disconnects ChatGPT. Access tokens last an hour and refresh automatically. If the connection misbehaves, tell us at support@propradar.com.au.
- Does the MCP server cost extra?
- No. It bills against the same plan and quota as the REST API, and enforces the same tier gates. A tool call costs exactly the credits the equivalent REST call costs, and the free tier includes 50 credits per month.
- Which tools require a paid plan?
- Address search, property records, suburb statistics, listings and sold history are callable on the free tier, but the free tier returns identity and physical attributes only: valuations, rental estimates, last sale price, potential sell price, asking prices, suburb medians and sold prices are all null below Hobby, and each one is listed in the response's locked_fields so you can tell "upgrade reveals it" from "not in the dataset". sold_comparables needs Hobby or above, or Pro or above when you pass your own lat/lng instead of a property_id. bulk_property_lookup needs Starter or above, and market_regions needs Growth or above. Property coordinates are a Pro+ field on every tool except the single-property record.
- Can I list the tools before signing up?
- Yes: every tool and its plan is listed on this page, and opening https://propradar.com.au/mcp in a browser shows the tool names. MCP requests themselves need an API key or an OAuth connection, because an unauthenticated request is how OAuth clients learn to sign you in. The handshake methods (initialize, tools/list, ping) never consume credits; only tools/call does.
